Paul Vernon Bruce

Growing up on a family farm, Paul Bruce learned the value of hard work and developed a deep appreciation for working outdoors in all kinds of weather. After graduating from a small-town high school, he put himself through junior college and went on to earn his bachelor's degree. He then became a junior high school math teacher. Seizing the opportunity to attend graduate school, Paul earned his master’s degree in math and statistics and transitioned to the financial services industry, initially training as an actuary.
His career in the financial sector spanned several decades and involved various writing tasks, from memos and reports to extensive documents resulting from in-depth analysis. Paul worked with some of the USA’s largest and most recognizable investment firms before eventually owning and managing his own consulting company.
Throughout his career, Paul served on various committees with organizations like the Society of Actuaries. He frequently spoke at conferences and contributed to newsletters and performance guides. He also published an opinion piece for Internal Auditor Magazine.
Upon retiring from his consulting company, Paul turned his attention to writing essays and fiction. This volume marks the publication of his first novel.
Trapper Tom
Tom Reynold’s rustic, solitary life is shattered when he is wrongfully accused of murder. This accusation drags him back into a world he had left behind, a world now compounded by charges that could threaten his very freedom.
Torn from his life of complete self-sufficiency, Tom finds his future now lies entirely in the hands of others. As he navigates the complex world of a criminal investigation and the intricate maze of the legal system, he struggles to determine whom he can trust and whom he cannot. This ordeal forces Tom to re-evaluate his entire life. Along his journey, he forms new relationships with people he meets, while also examining his old relationships with his family members.
This process of introspection and interaction becomes crucial as he strives to clear his name and reclaim his life. Tom’s journey is not just about proving his innocence but also about rediscovering himself and understanding the true value of connection and trust in a world that has suddenly turned hostile.
This book is a must-read for anyone who appreciates a well-crafted, character-driven story that delves into the essence of human connection and the strength it takes to rebuild one's life.
